iDrunkard
A little drunken iPod application I just stirred up.
Not long ago I came into possession of a brand new iPod Classic. My old Generation 3’s battery finally stopped holding a charge after 4 years, so this was my first chance to really play with one that does video and photos.
Are my initial play (i.e track down obscure album art) I decided I wanted to do something a bit more fun and practical. So I created the iDrunkard.
It’s a notes application based off the International Bartenders Association Official Cocktail list with corresponding photos of (nearly) every drink. The drinks are used in the annual World Cocktail Competition in bartending and they look great.
The notes functionality is actually pretty amazing and could feasible be extended to do much more interesting things than, this is what’s in a cocktail and that’s what it looks like. But that’s another job for another time, right now I’m happy to point out to people this summer ‘that’s not what’s in a Piña Colada and it’s in the wrong type of glass!’
On a completely different note
I’ve had a very quick skim through the A List Apart Web Design Survey Results pulling out the ‘Australia and Pacific Rim’ results. While I know it’s a self selecting survey that aren’t specifically New Zealand related results, I was surprised to see that it basically follows the same results in the article plus or minus a few percent here and there.
Certainly my assumption has been, for the past few years at least, that there isn’t a whole lot of web designers coming through the ranks. The survey results show that the numbers of people tend to be pretty even over the years.
Also a New Zealand version of Creative Commons will be launched on the 27 of October, or so I’m told.
